Day 18, 6th September Copenhagen (2) Denmark.

 Back in Denmark for the day while approx. 2100 passengers disembark and are replaced with the new passengers doing the cruise to Rome. As we had been here before we decided to go see parts of Copenhagen that we hadn’t seen, so purchased a bus and train ticket and set off for the city centre. Once there we had a look around and decided that it didn’t have anything of interest just buildings and hotels, we could see the spires of the Tivoli Gardens but couldn’t get to it so asked a guy who gave us directions in a fashion. He said it was just up the road and around the corner not sure what road he was thinking of but after a couple of roads a stop at a café for a drink and to upload the blog we finally got there.  It was founded in 1843 and is also a theme park which is one of the oldest in the world, this along with Hans Christian Anderson were the inspiration for Walt Disney’s Disneyland. The oldest and most popular rollercoaster at the park is wooden and from 1914. Tivoli has live music everyday, heaps of restaurants beautiful gardens and lots of great rides. We had a lovely time looking around but it was quite warm from where we had been about 26 degrees, tomorrow is a sea day and Friday we will be in Dover with temp expected to be 32.

Day 37 27th September Venice to Florence

 Pete and Julie headed back to Venice for a few more hours looking around I had breakfast and stayed at the hotel so that Julie could see a lot more of Venice without me slowing them down. Pete and Julie covered a lot of Venice which was good, they saw all the main places to see St Mark’s Basilica, Piazza San Marco, Bridge of Sighs and more plus loads of little canals and bridges and another trip down the Grand Canal. It was now time to head to Florence, had a lovely drive and decided we would stay at a little town up in the hills called Fiorelle just out of Florence. The drive in was wonderful lots of little villages very steep and narrow roads in places but was so worth it, we had to back track more than once as is typical in Europe not big on signs but that’s part of the fun. Unfortunately when we did eventually get to where we wanted to go the place only had one room left for two people so we tried another place without success so back down the hills we went and into Florence. ...

Day 16, 4th September Leirvik Norway

Was a tender port today and think the majority of passengers all decided to get off at the same time as us, HAL as is normal tendered everyone off the ship very quickly and smoothly. Once in the town we went for a walk along the sea front up to the town where it became hilly, as we didn’t have anywhere in particular to go and look at, I sat on a bench at the dock while Julie and Pete had a look around. It didn’t take them long to come back they took a few pics and said not much to see. We decided it was time to tender back to the ship as did a lot of other passengers, again a very easy and quick trip. Was still nice to get off the ship for awhile and good that Hal managed to find another port that we could go to after having missed the 2 ports due to bad weather.

Day 10, 29th August Isafjordur Iceland

 Cruised through the Isafjardurdjur fjord and docked in Isafjordur. Was a chilly 9 degrees when we disembarked the ship for our walk into town. Not a very big place so we went and had a look through the oldest building in town a brown building with a little tower, was interesting its set up as a museum with displays of how they used to live.  It was a long walk from the ship so we came back for a little bit then Julie and Pete went for a walk in to the main part of the town to have a quick look around they went to the museum but said it wasn’t really worth the walk. Back on board for a late lunch then happy hour and we will be sailing back down the fjord on our way to Grundarfjordur.
